I see therapy as a close collaboration between two people that goes beyond what anyone could expect to achieve on their own. Two heads are better than one? Definitely, especially in understanding oneself, and getting past blocks. We are all blind to our unconscious mind, but another set of eyes (and ears!) is invaluable in self-exploration.
About James: I've been local to San Diego for over 30 years, but originally come from the Midwest. Before becoming a therapist, I had a very different career as a professional illustrator, which may be why I appreciate the art of practicing psychotherapy. I enjoy working with a variety of people and especially like in-depth work.
I earned my undergraduate degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. and a Masters from National University in Counseling Psychology (2000).
I was also chosen to participate in the two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (SDPSI). This is traditionally a post-Doctoral program which goes in-depth into the specific technique of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
